Wednesday's forecast: Eastern warmth, western chill

Unusually warm weather will persist in the eastern U.S. Wednesday while the western chill continues.
East, central U.S.: Almost the entire eastern half of the country will enjoy high temperatures in the 70s. While most spots will be sunny, the one exception will again be the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida, where showers are likely. By very late in the day, showers and storms will begin to approach the Plains.
West: While the East sizzles, much of the western third of the U.S. will see high temperatures only in the 30s, 40s and 50s. In the Rockies and Southwest, low-elevation rain, high-elevation snow and windy conditions will add to the dreary feel. Up to a foot of snow could fall in the Rockies of Colorado.
