Tuesday's forecast: Stormy East, West; clear central U.S.

The East and West will see clouds and precipitation on Tuesday while the central U.S. enjoys mostly clear skies.
East: A dismal Tuesday is on tap for the Mid-Atlantic, Ohio Valley and Northeast. Some of the heaviest rain will be in eastern portions of the Carolinas.
Central U.S.: Mostly clear skies and pleasant temperatures will spread across the Plains on Tuesday, though that will change by Wednesday as severe weather is forecast.
West: A cool, wet pattern will continue in the western U.S. Snow is likely in the Cascades and Sierra while rain falls in lower elevations of the Rockies, California and Great Basin.
