A soggy Thursday is on tap for the East Coast and much of the Pacific Northwest while the central U.S. sees a dry day.

East Coast: The cold front that brought rain and storms to the central U.S. will move across the eastern seaboard on Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms will drench states from Maine to Florida. Some of the heaviest rain will be in the Southeast and southern Appalachians, where flash flooding is a concern.

Northwest: Showers and higher elevation snow will push into the Pacific Northwest and the Intermountain West on Thursday. The heaviest precipitation will be in Oregon and Idaho.

Central U.S.: Clear skies and typical November temperatures will be the rule across most of the Plains and Midwest on Thursday.

Weather history for Nov. 19: In 1981, a foot of heavy, wet snow collapsed the roof of the Metrodome in Minneapolis. In 1990, a slow moving subtropical storm brought torrential rains to the Hawaiian Islands, including two feet of rain at the Mauna Kea Sugar Co.
