Thursday's forecast: Soggy for East Coast, Northwest


The nation's two weather trouble spots Thursday will be the East Coast and the Pacific Northwest.

The national weather forecast for Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, calls for rain and showers across much of the country and more snow in the Rockies.

East: A wet, soggy day is forecast for much of the East Coast on Thursday, all the way from New England to the Gulf Coast. Some of the heaviest rain will be in the southern Appalachians.

Northwest: Heavy rain will soak coastal areas while snow belts the mountains of the Northwest on Thursday.

Central U.S.: Though mostly clear, high temperatures only in the teens, 20s and 30s will make for a cold day in the northern Plains. The central and southern Plains will see highs in the 50s, 60s and 70s.
