Tuesday's forecast: Rain and snow in the West

Rain and snow will fall across the West Tuesday while most of the East stays clear and cool.

West: Rain is forecast for most of the West Coast on Tuesday, potentially leading to flooding in portions of California. Heavy snow will plaster the Sierra Nevada, with 1-2 feet possible in some areas.

East: Clear but chilly weather will be the story for much of the eastern U.S. on Tuesday. Temperatures should be about 5 to 15 degrees below average all the way from New England to the Southeast.
