Thursday's forecast: Soggy, snowy West, milder East

Snow and rain will continue in California and the Southwest Thursday while milder temperatures spread across the East.
California, Southwest: Rain is again likely along the coast and in the valleys while snow piles up in the mountains. Some of the heaviest snow will be in the Sierra and southern Rockies.
Eastern U.S.: Temperatures will continue to be moderate Thursday as highs reach into the 40s and 50s from the Southeast to the Northeast. Some showers are possible along the east coast of Florida.
Central U.S.: Unwelcome showers are forecast for the sodden Mississippi Valley. Some light snow will fall in the central and northern Plains by the afternoon and evening.
