Thursday's forecast: More rain, snow for the West

Another storm will roll into the West on Thursday, bringing rain to coastal and valley areas and heavy snow to the mountains. A separate storm will soak the Gulf Coast by the evening.

East: The bitter cold of Wednesday will be replaced by milder temperatures on Thursday, as highs will be well above freezing for most areas, other than New England. Lake-effect snow will continue downwind of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario in New York but should begin to wind down by the evening.
Gulf Coast: Widespread afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are expected for the Gulf Coast from Texas to Louisiana and in southern Florida.
