Tuesday's forecast: Snowy East, warm West

A winter storm will deliver snow to portions of the northeastern U.S. on Tuesday as mild temperatures and clear skies continue in the West.

East: A few inches of snow will whiten the Mid-Atlantic states on Tuesday. Heavier snow is likely in the Appalachians and around the Great Lakes.

West: Very warm temperatures and sunny skies will bring a summery feel in early February for much of the western U.S. as highs soar into the 60s, 70s and 80s for most of the region.

Central U.S.: Frigid temperatures will be the story in the upper Midwest on Tuesday, as highs only reach the single digits and teens in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
