Tuesday's forecast: Severe weather southern U.S.

Showers, thunderstorms and snow will hit the central U.S. while another storm slams into the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday.
Central, southern U.S.: Severe thunderstorms will rattle the south-central U.S. on Tuesday. The greatest chance for severe weather will be in Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. Several inches of snow will whiten portions of the upper Midwest and Great Lakes.
East: Most of the East Coast will be clear, dry and mild on Tuesday. The one exception will be northern New England, where snow and cold temperatures are forecast.
West: Coastal and valley rain and mountain snow are forecast for the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday. The Southwest will be sunny and dry.
