Thursday's forecast: Warm East, wet South, West

Another day of record warmth is forecast Thursday for the eastern U.S. while storms pelt the Mississippi Valley and Northwest.

East: High temperatures will soar into the 70s and 80s along most of the East Coast on Thursday under clear skies. Only the Northeast will be in the cool 50s and 60s.

South: Ongoing drenching rain and thunderstorms will lead to more flash flooding in the Mississippi Valley. The worst flooding is expected in Louisiana and Arkansas.

West: A storm will continue to slam the Northwest Coast on Thursday. Rain will soak the coast and valleys while snow belts mountainous areas.
