Friday's forecast: Stormy Southeast, snowy Midwest

More severe storms will roll across the Southeast Friday while snow pastes portions of the Midwest.
South: Severe thunderstorms are forecast to rattle much of the southeastern U.S. on Friday, all the way from the Gulf Coast to the eastern Carolinas. Heavy rain could also lead to flash flooding in parts of Georgia and the Carolinas.
Midwest: Light snow will whiten northern portions of the Upper Midwest and northern Great Lakes Friday while a cold rain soaks southern parts of the regions. High temperatures will be in the chilly 30s and 40s.
West: Most of the western third of the nation will see sunny skies and mild temperatures in the 60s and 70s Friday.
