Tuesday's forecast: Severe storms central U.S.

A few severe thunderstorms are forecast to pelt portions of the central U.S. on Tuesday while the East stays mild and the Northwest is cool and showery.
Central U.S.: Severe thunderstorms, including some large hail and a few tornadoes, are expected in the central Plains and upper Mississippi Valley. The southern Plains will be very hot, with high temperatures in the 90s to near 100 degrees.
East: One more mild, dry day is on tap for much of the East Coast Tuesday. The Southeast will be warm and muggy with some afternoon thunderstorms possible.
West: Showers and clouds will keep the Pacific Northwest cool. The rest of the West will be clear and warm.
