A small cold front will pass the East Coast on Wednesday mitigating the scorching summer heat, as thunderstorms pound the Ohio and Tennessee valleys and Gulf Coast.

Gulf Coast, Southeast: Flash flood warnings are in effect in central Texas as the Gulf Coast, particularly southern Louisiana, battles the aftermath of the torrential rains that caused historic flooding. Rain and thunderstorms will also sweep parts of Alabama and Georgia.

Midwest, Plains: Rain and thunderstorms are likely to hit the Great Lakes, ranging from Wisconsin to Illinois. The northern Plains will remain relatively dry with high temperatures expected from North Dakota to Kansas.

West: Showers will soak the Rockies for a consecutive day. Pleasant temperatures will roam through the West Coast.
