Friday's forecast: Eastern heat, rainy Plains

Summer-like heat will continue to sear the eastern U.S. Friday as showers and thunderstorms soak portions of the Midwest and central Plains.
East: Warm and humid conditions will continue for most of the eastern U.S. Friday, as high temperatures soar into the 90s. Only a few showers are expected in Florida and the mid-Atlantic.
Central U.S.: Heavy rain will soak the central Plains and upper Midwest on Friday. The heaviest rain, along with some severe storms, is likely in Kansas and Missouri.
West: Mostly clear skies and mild to warm temperatures will make for a pleasant Friday in the western U.S.
