Wednesday's forecast: Summerlike warmth for central, eastern U.S.

Another very warm day is on tap Tuesday for the central and eastern U.S., where more record highs are possible.
Eastern, central U.S.: Much of the central and eastern U.S. will see another summerlike day Tuesday. Afternoon highs are forecast to be 10 to 20 degrees above average with temperatures in the 80s and 90s. A few showers and thunderstorms are possible from the central Plains to the Ohio Valley.
West: Some light rain and snow showers are forecast for the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies. The rest of the West will be warm and dry, with fire danger on the rise in windy southern California.
