The Southwest is in for a wet Friday while a few light showers dampen the Northwest and Florida.

West: Widespread showers and thunderstorms are forecast across the Southwest and west Texas on Friday. The heaviest rain is likely in New Mexico. Some flooding is possible. Light afternoon showers are expected along the Pacific Northwest coast.

East: Most of the eastern third of the country will see a dry and cool Friday thanks to Thursday's cold front that's pushed off the coast. A few showers are forecast in southern Florida.

Central U.S.: A mild to warm day is expected Friday for most of the central U.S. as highs soar into the 70s as far north as the Dakotas.
