Tuesday's forecast: Wet Northeast, Northwest

Most of the nation will see quiet weather Tuesday except for the Northeast and Northwest, where rain and snow showers are forecast.
East: Rain showers are likely Tuesday in the Northeast. The heaviest rain is expected in southern New England. Maine could see some light snow showers.
West: Another soggy day is on tap for the northwestern U.S. While rain pelts coastal and valley areas, snow is likely in the higher elevations of the Cascades and northern Rockies.
Central U.S.: Most of the central U.S. will see clear skies and mild temperatures. Several locations in the central and northern Plains and Upper Midwest will see high temperatures in the 60s and 70s, which is some 15 to 25 degrees above average Tuesday afternoon.
