Milwaukee temperatures may drop 50 degrees between this Tuesday and Halloween

Don't let the weather spook you, but things are going to get much colder by Halloween.

While Milwaukee set an Oct. 24 record with an 82-degree high this Tuesday, temperatures will drop to the upper 30s by Halloween next Tuesday. The low on Monday might dip into the 20s.

Tuesday's high broke the previous Oct. 24 high of 80 set in 1963.

Here is the downward timeline through Halloween:

Wednesday, Oct. 25

According to the Sullivan office of the National Weather Service, temperatures will not be nearly as warm as Tuesday due to cloud coverage throughout the day.

However, given the continuation of a warm and moist air mass, temperatures will peak in the upper 60s with some light rain chances continuing throughout the day.

Thursday, Oct. 26

Rain chances will be much higher with temperatures still in the upper 60s.

Temperatures will range between 60 and 67 with that air mass still remaining warm and moist.

Friday, Oct. 27

The morning will start off in the 60s, but with a cold front sweeping through Milwaukee, temperatures will begin to drop into the 50s by sunset.

Friday is when the transition to much colder temperatures will begin.

Just before midnight, temperatures could tank to as low as 43 degrees.

Saturday, Oct. 28

As the cold front continues to sweep through the southern half of Wisconsin, temperatures will continue to drop.

Saturday could also see high winds coming from the northeast, making for highs just in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 30s.

Sunday, Oct. 29

Meteorologist Denny Vancleve with the National Weather Service said Sunday could be the "coldest night of the season" - at least for a day - with low temperatures in the mid-30s.

The warmest it could get on Sunday is the mid-40s.

Monday, Oct. 30

This Halloween eve will likely feel more like winter than fall with another cold front coming through Milwaukee.

Temperatures will range from the high 20s to the high 30s.

Halloween, Tuesday, Oct 31

Those planning on trick or treating will want to think about adding some layers to their costumes.

By sundown, temperatures could fall into the mid-30s.

Currently, there is no significant chance of snowfall on Halloween, but Vancleve said if there is snow it would "only be a few flakes and nothing that would stick."
