See the damage in New Orleans caused by Hurricane Ida

Hurricane Ida made landfall near Port Fourchon on Sunday afternoon.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards warned during a Sunday afternoon news conference that the state is "just getting started" with Hurricane Ida and the damage the state was seeing.

"We can expect devastating impacts to continue for the next 24 hours or so through the state," he said.

More than 4,900 Louisiana National Guard members were activated for the storm, Edwards said.
