According to Stefania Zarri, Kiato is a small town in Greece next to the beach with not many opportunities for young people.

"I always wanted to leave that place and explore the world," she said of her hometown.

So she did.

Zarri is currently studying psychology at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. As part of her major, she took a seven-month "placement year" abroad in Sydney, Australia. She snapped this photo at Sydney's Torongo Zoo in February.

She aspires to become a criminal or clinical psychologist. She is fascinated by "different minds."

"I think [the photo] is interesting and it has an unusual beauty," she said. "This giraffe, for me, represents that being different is not a bad thing; there is a beauty behind it."

Zarri took this photo with a Canon 650D and 24-105mm lens, and edited it in Lightroom. She said for her, the photo is captivating because it is unique — and that's what makes life interesting.

"Weird is beautiful," she said.
