Your Take Today: Paste BN's top reader photo

For Your Take contributor Jordan Gulas, flying over the Grand Canyon was a surreal experience like no other.

Last month, Gulas took a cross-country flight from California to the East Coast. When the pilot announced the plane was about to fly over the Grand Canyon, Gulas frantically grabbed his Nikon D5100 with his Nikon DX18-55mm lens and started shooting. Gulas says he didn't need to use his zoom lens because it was a clear day.

"It looks almost as if the Earth was abruptly ripped apart, and could be effortlessly squeezed back together again, as the outlines of the canyon walls appear to match up perfectly," Gulas says.

In order to eliminate the haze from the high altitude, Gulas added contrast, sharpened the photo and added the X-PROII -- all in Instagram.

"Be careful not to use a heavy hand while doing this, as overkill can make it look like a cartoon," Gulas says.
