Greg Torchia has photographed the Bow Bridge in Central Park several times.
But on the second night of 2015, he was looking for a different perspective: "one (that) described the captivating sky and of course the calmness in the water," he said.
"For the first time, there were no people on the bridge and the park was surprisingly quiet in the moment," said Torchia. "Sometimes the most unusual subject can turn out to be the most captivating."
Torchia lives with his wife and children in Long Beach Island, N.J., not far from Manhattan. He said he's accustomed to "madness in the summer" and "desolate beaches in the winter."
This still and quiet nighttime photo captures that feeling of winter's serenity and desolation.
Torchia captured this photo with his Nikon D750 and a Nikkor 16-35mm wide-angle lens.
