Your Take Today: Paste BN's top reader photo

On a sunny November day, Your Take contributor Karen Mackey took it upon herself to take photos of the Fredericksburg Battlefield in Fredericksburg, Va., for a Flickr contact.

Equipped with a Nikon D40 DSLR camera and Nikkor 18-55mm lens, Mackey arrived to a pleasant surprise of wonderful fall colors.

"It was a great morning as I had the battlefield practically to myself," Mackey says.

To create the edited version, Mackey used the Living Planet app to create the circular photo. She explains there are two ways to apply the feature: one uses the sky as the outer edges and the other creates a wormhole effect — which is what Mackey used.

Want to create your own 'tiny planets'?
Mackey says keep a level horizon so when the app rotates the image on the center axis the two sides line up. This helps avoid major editing.
