Your Take Today: Paste BN's top reader photo

Your Take contributor Blake Lannom was in Hungary, exploring Budapest, when he captured this magnificent shot along the Danube River.

He captured this shot using a Canon EOS 6D with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens. He made slight edits in Adobe Lightroom.

"Personally, I really enjoy how photography can change the way you see and analyze the world around you," he said. "Even when I don't have a camera with me, I often find myself thinking about the way a particular shot can be framed -- taking mental notes."

In regards to framing, he wanted to give the impression that the Palace atop the hill rested between the suspension cables of the Chain Bridge in the foreground.

He arrived at his "spot" about 30 minutes before sunset to get ready and dial-in his camera settings.

After sunset, comes the "blue hour."

"There is just enough light remaining in the sky that a soft blue tone backlights the photograph," he said. "The navy blue sky and the city lights of the Chain Bridge and Palace, combined to make an incredible scene."

In college, photography became a hobby for Lannom and has been shooting ever since. Street photography is one of his favorite styles and believes it's a great method to become more in tune with city life and culture.

"Photography has made me more aware of how lighting effects the emotion of a scene, and can completely change the narrative of a photograph," he said. "Whether you're looking for landscape shots, architecture, history, or culture, the city has so much to offer to the photographer's eye."
