Ships race to investigate signals in jet search

Searchers of the missing Malaysia jet raced toward a patch of the southern Indian Ocean on Sunday to see if sounds picked up by underwater equipment came from the plane's black boxes, whose battery-operated pingers are on the verge of dying out.
